Newton Abbot Orchestra Concerts Diary |
The 2007-8 season started with a concert at St. Luke's Church in Buckfastleigh on November 10th which was well attended. Also, The orchestra was proud to have been selected by the Mayor of Newton Abbot, Councillor Keith Smith, to perform at his Annual Charity Concert on March 8th. It was very successful, and the Mayor was appreciative of the effort put in by all who took part, which included Stover School Choir. The concert on Thursday May 15th 2008, at St. Luke's Church, Torquay, was a great success. And the concert on June 20th in St. Luke's Church, Buckfastleigh, was even better, if that is possible. There was a good number in the audience, despite the poor weather. A concert was held on Friday 12th December, 2008, in St. Luke's Church, Buckfastleigh. It had a Christmas flavour, apart from a classical first half. Janna's latest composition was, also, included. Performances of 'Showboat' by TOPS took place, in 2009, on Friday March 20th at Oldway Mansion, Paignton; Saturday March 21st at St. Mary's Church, Abbotsbury, Newton Abbot; and Thursday and Friday March 26th and 27th at 'Flavel', Dartmouth. The N.A. Orchestra accompanied the performances, and played a few classical works, too. The last 'concert' was a performances of Janna's four compositions in connection with her degree course. This was on May 14th 2009 in Studio 1 at Dartington. It was very successful, if unusual! The next concert was on Thursday July 16th in the Daphne Colman Hall, which is behind Newton Abbot College. Then, in the morning of Saturday July 25th, in connection with Newton Abbot Festival, the orchestra performed on the open area in front of St. Leonard's Tower in Newton Abbot - and the weather was perfect! One again, the orchestra has been asked to give a concert in St. Luke's Church, Buckfastleigh, and this will be on December 10th, so Christmas music will be included. The Orchestra is affiliated to Newton Abbot and District Society of Arts |
